“Justice is a flawed concept that ultimately comes down to the decision of 12 people. People with their own experiences, prejudices, feelings about what defines right & wrong.”
— Attorney Clarence Darrow
If you ever have to go to trial, are you perfectly confident in your life being placed into the hands of 12 strangers whose minds & hearts you know nothing about?
.
Those 12 flawed jurors? That’s 12 more people that we’ve got trying to be fair than you’ll find in a lot of places. They’re still just 12 humans, but think of where we’d be without them.
Well, you’re right, there. We have little in the way of alternative justice, but 12 jurors beats other forms of justice I’ve witnessed!
The past has shown that 12 people can fail with their decision…
Happy Weekend Sylver 🙂
Happy weekend to you, too! 🙂
Hey Sylver – thanks for keeping us thinking – this one is another reason why we must stay very aware of who we are and what is happening around us! Stay out of court but good to know we always have the power of thought on our side…. : -)
Exactly! Keeping our lives in our own hands by way of choosing how we think – what we allow in & what we refuse to entertain. Loving your book, btw. Can’t devour it in one sitting as I’d love to because of school work, so grabbing bits & pieces during nano-seconds of free time. But it’s amazing how effective one sentence can be in changing my outlook on any particular day. After finals, will indulge fully!
When are finals and what schoolwork are you indulging in? I should know this but feel free to tell me again.
Thanks – so glad… thrilled you’re loving my book – I wrote it for you 😉 let me know how you go – would love to have some comments from you once you’re finished (when you have some time)
Jx
You bet! Working on dual degrees in Journalism & Middle Eastern Studies. Finals over mid-May. Can’t wait! 🙂
Well then you’re a time management genius. My best wishes to you!
Thanx, Janet! 🙂
I say we put animals on the jury.
Here! Here! Love it. 🙂 With animals, you know what you’re getting. Laws of nature, no ulterior motives, no personal personal axes to grind…
Unfortunately the laws and justice/fairness are not the same thing
Bummer. 😦
