Friday Blaque List 17

What I’m…

The freedom from technology the way I travel brings…

,,,the novelty of writing on paper w/ dull pencils…

…intermittent or complete lack of electricity…

…no cell phones, no emails, no iPod, no tv…

…firelight, torches, candles…

…the only entertainment being what you & those around you dream up at any given moment…

…swinging on iffy vines across rocky rivers…

…following & watching animals, learning things about different species – from ants to elephants – that you would never learn by Googling or watching NatGeo…

…talking to each other…actually listening & being listened to with full attention for hours rather than minutes…and the deeper-level connection this brings.

What are you missing right now?

    • Yummy to the home cooking! And, yeah, whatever happened to courtesy & respect for others? I really should have added that to the list because it’s one of the main things I always notice in the less technically wired places I travel to. Everyone in those so-called ‘primitive’ places is so attentive (because no technology to impair attention span) to the niceties, and courtesies that we’ve, for the most part, discarded in favor of time-saving quickie-comm exchanges that have nothing to do with REAL communication between people….

      • Respect for others & ourselfes..that s what I miss right now..And my hubby to be – I won’t see him the next weeks..

        I also miss sunshine..the full green nature…Tunisia.. πŸ˜‰

        • These are good ones. And I can’t wait to travel to Tunisia so I can miss it, too. πŸ™‚ But how sad to be away from hubby-2-B! 😦 But don’t worry. You 2 are going to be joined at the hip 4ever after the wedding!
